Socially responsible investing, also known as socially-conscious or ethical investing, describes an investment strategy which seeks to maximize both financial return and social good. For example, if you are vehemently opposed to smoking, you can decide to avoid investing in companies that manufacture and sell cigarettes or other tobacco products. Personally, I do not consider SRI in my investment decisions. That does not mean that you should not. You need to take a stand on what you believe in and ensure that your investment choices reflect that.
