Bahrain's Labour Minister and Labour Market Regulatory Authority chairman Dr. Majeed Al Alawi has said Bahrain is to axe the sponsorship logic for unknown workers within three months, allowing them to switch jobs at will without their employer's consent. Dr Al Alawi said the go would encourage employers to recruit more Bahrainis, as they would no longer be able to force expatriate workers to stay on, and that the government may also limit the number of unknown workers allowed into the country, following an upcoming feasibility study.
